Zane continues Bar Mitzvah project with spice jars and paper hamsa to benefit Israel

Zane Winter has emerged from the studio with new craft items for his Bar Mitzvah project to benefit Magen David Adom, the Israeli emergency medical service providing lifesaving efforts during Israel’s ongoing war against Hamas.

Zane began his work shortly after the October 7 terrorist attack against Israel. He hopes to continue to share images of love and peace as a countermeasure to harsh rhetoric and images of conflict.

New product offerings, available for purchase August 1 at the Temple, include a “unique selection of havdalah spice jars and paper hamsa with traditional home or travel blessings,” says Zane’s mom, Lee Winter.

Zane crafted the glass spice jars from upcycled yogurt containers. He washed, kashered and painted the jars and created the besamim (spices) himself.

Visit the Vestry Room at the Temple during Shabbat services or weekday mornings to take a look, and to help support this worthy cause. Contact Norma (812) 232-5988 for more details.
