Spring is here. Now would be a good time for working women to join Temple Sisterhood!

By Patty Lewis

Sisterhood will meet at noon Tuesday, April 16, at Rick’s Smokehouse, 3102 Wabash Ave. in Terre Haute. Please join us!

Last month, we got together at the Fly-IN Cafe at Terre Haute Regional Airport. I think everyone enjoyed watching the planes as we ate some delicious food.

We held a brief meeting after our meal, allowing us to take care of a few tasks and make some decisions.

As we have for many years, Sisterhood will make a donation to CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center. The museum is an important part of the past and the future. We also decided we will help military veterans this year.

I know some of you ladies still considering Sisterhood but have not yet joined. We would love to have all the women at our Temple to be a part of our organization. You can still make a difference as a member of Sisterhood, even if you can’t make it to meetings!

First United Methodist group visits for Shabbat; March 12 meeting set for Fly-IN Cafe

By Patty Lewis

It seems like only yesterday when Sisterhood began its winter break. They say time flies when you are having a good time, so I must be having a great time!

I did enjoy the experience February 8 at the Temple when a a large group from First United Methodist Church in Robinson, Ill., visited for Shabbat services with Student Rabbi Jonathan Falco.

By now I am sure you have received your flyer about our Sisterhood meeting at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at the Fly-IN Cafe at Terre Haute Regional Airport.

Young people stick around to enliven holiday events, help religious school thrive

By Patty Lewis

With the snow and ice on the road and below-freezing temperatures, all we can do is stay in our nice warm houses with homemade soup on the stove.

In the meantime, less-fortunate people try to survive out there in the cold, not knowing where their next meal is coming from.

The Temple Hanukkah party brought a good turnout this time around. I want to thank Karen Harris and her helpers for making religious school and holiday celebrations possible for our children.

Sisterhood takes time off until March, plans kitchen shower

By Patty Lewis

Sisterhood held our final meeting of the season in November in the new Meadows Cafe at Meadows Shopping Center. We decided we enjoyed having lunch together and so each month we will find a different restaurant where we can get together. I’m going to check out the Fly-IN Cafe at Terre Haute Regional Airport for our next meeting in March 2019.

We also hope to schedule a shower to replenish the Temple kitchen, and could use some first aid items as well. We will be sending out a flyer between now and March and you can bring your items to the March meeting or drop them by the Temple.
