Small Jewish Communities Project seeks help with online survey

Sam Richardson, a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Sociology, University of Virginia and primary investigator with The Small Jewish Communities Project, has invited United Hebrew Congregation to participate in a national survey of small Jewish congregations.

He writes:

Although there have been four major national surveys of American Jewry and more than 200 surveys of local American Jewish communities since 1970, there has been a noticeable neglect of the smaller Jewish communities throughout the United States. The result of this deficit is an incomplete representation of the American Jewish landscape.

The purpose of this survey is to provide a first attempt at better understanding Jews in small communities, their values, their strengths and their unique contribution to the American Jewish landscape.

Most people will be able to complete the survey in 10-15 minutes. The survey is open now and will close on May 22, 2017.

To participate, visit smalljewishcommunities.org and enter the unique community ID “TERIN04”.

Richardson says the survey should take 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

The project will report its findings after tabulating the results.
