Crowds will return to Temple Israel from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, June 11, when United Hebrew Congregation participates in the annual “Stained Glass Sunday Afternoon” tour sponsored by Indiana Landmarks and Terre Haute Landmarks.
Volunteers will be present at eight historic houses of worship to welcome visitors along the free, self-guided tour. Tour maps will be available at each site.
United Hebrew Congregation held its annual meeting on Sunday, May 21, 2017. There, the congregation elected a board of trustees and officers of board.
Officers include President Betsy Frank, VP/Secretary Terry Fear and Treasurer Bruce Black. Six board members will serve as well.
That 2016 United Hebrew Congregation Terre Haute B’nai Mitzvah class, including Karen Harris, Debra Israel, Patty Lewis, Wilma Turetzky and Sara Wormser-Waltermire, will unite to officiate Shabbat services at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017, in the Vestry Room.
All are invited to attend. The B’nai Mitzvah class will sponsor an oneg after the service.
Sam Richardson, a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Sociology, University of Virginia and primary investigator with The Small Jewish Communities Project, has invited United Hebrew Congregation to participate in a national survey of small Jewish congregations.
