Betsy Frank is UHC para-rabbinic fellow and president.
As I write this column, the Congregation has just finished an important rite of spring, the congregational annual meeting. At the meeting, the following officers and board members were elected for three-year terms:
- Betsy Frank, president
- Terry Fear, vice-president/secretary
- Bruce Black, treasurer
- Herschel Chait, board member
- Wilma Turetzky, board member
The following board members will continue until their terms expire:
- Jo Einstandig (2019)
- Debra Israel (2018)
- Patty Lewis (2019)
- Reid Zoll (2018)
Congratulations to all the board and I hope that UHC members will feel free to contact any of us with your ideas and concerns. Also, if you would like a copy of the annual report, please contact Norma Collins.
Although we are a small congregation, we are active and continue to welcome new members. This month we welcome Leah Singer and Bryan Lubic and their daughter Sophie.
Farewell to Student Rabbi Aaron Rozovsky
Sadly, we also say goodbye to our student rabbi, Aaron Rozovsky. We wish him well as he finishes up his fifth year of studies.
Rabbi Aaron’s last weekend here will be June 2-4 to help the Congregation celebrate Sarah Harris’s Bat Mitzvah. We are all so proud of Sarah and her accomplishments.
We do have services weekly during the summer. We hope to see you at services to help us celebrate one of the greatest gifts we have, Shabbat.
As Herschel Chait mentioned at the annual meeting, Judaism consists not only of personal spiritual practices, but communal observances. We do have services weekly during the summer. We hope to see you at services to help us celebrate one of the greatest gifts we have, Shabbat.
In our fast-paced world, it is often difficult to slow down and take a breath and reflect.
Shabbat services provide a way to spiritually recharge our body, mind and spirit. See you Friday evenings at 7:30 p.m.!
Finally, in the annual report, I listed a number of “thank you’s”. However, I forgot one important thank you. A big shout-out goes to Norma Collins, who keeps us all going. She knows us all and for me personally, keeps me on track for what I should be doing.
Thank you, Norma!
Shalom,
Betsy Frank
