Hello all!
My name is Jonathan Falco and I’m thrilled to serve as the student rabbi at UHC for the 2018-2019 year.
Born and raised in Westchester, N.Y., I was eager to leave the suburbs for college and studied at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., for my baccalaureate.
A Jewish reawakening
Having enrolled as a computer science major, I was fascinated by artificial intelligence and computer programming. After taking my first Jewish Studies course, however, I was reawakened to my passion for our tradition and changed course to major in the subject, studying with such luminaries as Drs. David Blumenthal and Deborah Lipstadt.
After graduating in 2014, I decided to spend some time living in Israel to improve my Hebrew skills.
From Israel to Delaware to Israel again
After a year of splitting my time between Beit Shemesh and Jerusalem, I moved back to the States to focus on serving the American Jewish community as the Engagement Associate for Hillel at the University of Delaware.
Two fulfilling years later, I had the privilege of moving back to the heart of Jerusalem, but this time as a rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College.
In my spare time, I love to work with my hands, curl up with a good book or hang out with my dog, Linus.
I’m happy to be in the midwest and excited to spend the year with you here in Terre Haute!
Student Rabbi Jonathan Falco will serve UHC Terre Haute throughout the 2018-19 academic year.
