We’ve been through an election and the holidays are approaching but with COVID still around, I’m sure everybody understands that our lives have changed and things won’t be getting back to normal just quite yet.
Thanksgiving dinner may experience some adjustments as we alter routines to protect our families. Hanukkah is coming in December and it, too, won’t be the same. Sisterhood will not operate its traditional Hanukkah gift shop this year.
Still, we can stay in touch with loved ones via phone call, text and Zoom. Virtual Temple Shabbat services have continued without skipping a beat. Our efforts are all about keeping each other safe.
Today we Zoom; tomorrow we party
When we are able to get together in our Temple, though, I think we should hold a big carry-in party and celebrate being together! We can all look forward to that time.

Betsy Frank has kept our congregation running smoothly, with husband Dick’s technical assistance and all the volunteer Shabbat leaders. It’s always nice to see our fellow congregants during Zoom services, and to linger and talk afterward.

Get out your checkbook to help the kids
Karen, Debra and Cara are conducting religious school and keeping our children busy and connected through virtual classes.
Religious school remains involved in the community and has taken on the Vigo County School Corporation Backpack Program as its Mitzvah project.
The Backpack Program provides food for at-risk children in our community during weekends when they lack access to school breakfasts and lunches.
Sisterhood has donated to the religious school students’ efforts, and you can help out, too! Send a check made out to Temple Sisterhood care of Norma Collins at the Temple, with “VCSC Backpack Program” in the memo field, and we’ll get it to the kids. The deadline to contribute is Dec. 1.
Hang in there! Believe it or not, things could be worse. As wise elders have advised me during past crises, this too will pass.
